Measles in Oakland County

3/25/2019

Due to the expansion of measles exposure sites outside of the Orthodox Jewish community, Pediatric Care Corner recommends the following during this ongoing measles outbreak:

Patients 6-11 months who have been exposed, frequent exposure areas (review sites in link below), are traveling internationally or who are requesting vaccination can receive MMR now, but will need two additional doses after age 12 months. Please call our office to schedule an MMR vaccine appointment.

Patients 12 months and older should receive their first MMR dose if they have not already. The second MMR dose can be given now as long as it has been 28 days after any injectable or intranal live virus vaccination (Ex: MMR, VAR, Flumist). This second dose would complete the MMR series. Please call our office to schedule your MMR vaccine appointment.
