Policies

  • Antibiotic Policy

We work hard to not overuse antibiotics.

We educate families on appropriate use of antibiotics, but follow evidence-based guidelines and don’t automatically treat ear pain or a green snotty nose with antibiotics.

We do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone as we do not believe that is good medicine. We will prescribe an antibiotic when we believe it is an appropriate treatment.

  • Appointment Policy

    No-Show Policy

Patients who do not keep their appointments deprive others of an opportunity to see their doctor. Please call us as soon as you know that you will not be able to keep an appointment, so that we can offer that time to another patient who needs it. You will be charged for missed appointments.

Missed well care appointment fees and missed sick visit appointment fees are $50. We will contact you if you are more than 15 minutes late so that we can reschedule your appointment.

Refill Requests: Please allow 48-72 hours for refill requests to be processed. Patient portal refill requests are filled promptly (usually same day). Please remind us about any refill requests at your visits.

Referral Requests: Please allow 1 week for non-urgent referral requests.

Forms: Please allow up to 1 week for form completion.

Health Appraisals: We complete health appraisal forms at every well child visit. If you have additional forms requiring completion please bring them to those visits. In general, if we have seen your child within the previous calendar year for a complete physical, we are able to complete school or sports forms. If you misplace or need an additional copy of your child's health appraisal, they are also available under the Documents Section of your child's patient portal.

  • Technology Policy

Efficiency through the use of technology

You will be encouraged to consult our website, register for and use our patient portal, and effectively use automated reminders for appointments and for routine care/immunizations that are due.

  • Vaccine Policy

We feel very strongly that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is the right thing to do for all children and young adults. Our conviction is best demonstrated by the fact that our own children are fully immunized and vaccinated on schedule. If despite our recommendations, you feel you cannot follow the AAP and CDC vaccine schedule recommendations, we will ask you to find another health care provider who shares your views. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns that you have about vaccines with any of the physicians during your office visit.

Please see our Vaccine Policy for additional information.
